Dear Croc Family,

As we move through the middle of the year, I wanted to update club members on where our club currently stands in preparation for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

This season is an important one in the life of Coomera Hope Island Cricket Club as we enter our 50th season playing as our current entity. Our club in its current formation was founded in 1971 and first played competition cricket in the 1971/72 season. To celebrate this important milestone, we are looking at a number of positive initiatives which will be announced over the next few weeks and months.

Saying that we have much to do to prepare for the upcoming season and in this update I will share some important items on where we are at.

COVID-19 and Pre-Season

As you may have seen and heard, there have been some easing of restrictions around COVID-19. This has seen a few activities recommence; however our club is not back to full functioning as it was during the last summer season. We do have more work to do as we look to increase our club’s preparation for the 2020/21 season in line with the relevant easing of Queensland Government restrictions. I would ask for patience and co-operation from all club members in relation to whatever policies and procedures our club needs to implement and abide by.

As was posted previously, our club has 2 teams training under specific restrictions and our clubhouse is not open for any member, so please adhere to these restrictions.

Further 2020/21 pre-season plans will be slowly released as we continue to work on all of our exciting and comprehensive plans for the upcoming season.

Sponsorship and Club Finance

With the loss of our end of season events, the club has had to tighten the budget available for the commencement of the summer season. We understand that we are not the only club or individual in this predicament and are hopeful that we can recover these losses soon, and all be enjoying our cricket again.

As a club, we have contacted last year’s sponsors and are hopeful they will commit again for the upcoming season. We have also opened our sponsorship packages to any interested parties.

Sponsorship Options:

  • Plans – Platinum, Titanium, Gold, Silver, Bronze
  • Individual Team Sponsors
  • Player of the Round Sponsors – Seniors, Juniors, Masters
  • Top Performances – 100’s, 5fors
  • Volunteer of the Month
  • Raffle and Fundraising prizes
  • Event Sponsorship

For us to successfully plan our upcoming season, we would love to know how many of our previous players are returning to playing at our club during the 2020/21 season. Season details are yet to be confirmed by the district, however as a club we are working on the basis that our season may be similar to what it was in 2019/20 and are keeping our fees at the same level. We are hoping to have more payment options to assist in helping as many people as we can get onto the field playing.

Our 2020/21 Online registration will open up during July. Keep an eye out for when we release details. If you are planning on returning, please send through an email to Shannon Drury (

The COVID-19 restrictions have caused our 2020 Annual General Meeting to be postponed until after July 10. Currently we are exploring our options on how we hold the AGM as the internal rooms of the clubhouse severely limit how many people are able to attend the AGM. We will announce the date and procedure for the AGM in the next few weeks.

50th Season Launch & Presentation

Once we have more information on when our season will start, we will announce the date for when we will be holding a combined season launch and presentation event. This launch will be where we introduce team captains, coaches, hand out season apparel as well as all the trophies for the 2019/20 season. Due to the COVID-19, there may be restrictions on how we hold the event but we will release any details closer to the time. This event will be significant as it celebrates the launch of our club’s 50th season!

As a committee, we are working hard on a number of different things that we will hopefully be able to announce over the coming weeks.

Keep safe and we will all be back on the field in no time.

Paul Graham
